Item Details
Description
A great example of an original survivor in very good original condition but for the painted dial that would originally have been unfinished brass with black enamel debossed numerals. A walnut case with burl details and ebonised highlights, original finials and top crown, original dial and hands including sweep, original nickel-plated weight and pendulum bob on the original stained wood stick showing moderate wear to its original finish, all original glass, original finish throughout the case including the black ebonized details to the moldings around the top of the base which has a drop panel door with lock, ebonised trim below that door is original as well, original walnut base. Provenance: this clock was purchased from Brunk Jewelers in McPherson Kansas in 1960 and was the pride and joy of a gentleman from Assaria, Kansas who built the family room of his home with a sunken floor just to accommodate this 100-inch tall clock. The complete measurements are 100.5 inches high, 29 inches wide at the widest molding and 10.75 inches deep at this same point. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Condition
Very good running condition. The original crank is present but there are no keys for the two locking doors. There is a 1.5 square piece of walnut decoration missing from the right hand side of the crown and on the opposite side of the crown there is a 1.5 inch long return molding absent. Scattered nicks, scratches, rubs, minor losses, and paint spatter. There is a small dish shaped ornament missing from the left side of the case. The back and all else are all original.
