Description
French, late 19th century. A pair of Louis XVI style carved walnut and double caned winged confessional bergere chairs, each chair raised on fluted tapering lets with patera block knees joined by imbricated bands in relief, with padded serpentine shoulders and arms bearing twisted ribbon decoration and acanthine handgrips, surmounted with crestrail bearing sculptural flowers. With burnt umber fitted seat cushion, lumbar pillow, and head guard. Approximate overall height 49", width 27.5", depth 30", seat height (with cushion) 20.5", seat depth 24". Provenance: Jacqueline Adams Antiques, Atlanta, Georgia, whereby acquired by a Private Collection, Atlanta, Georgia.
