Description
English, 19th century. Salt glazed stoneware jug, possibly from Brampton, of baluster form with circular opening at top (likely missing lid), rounded shoulders with grape leaf and vine decoration above two rounded handles, tapered body with figural decoration depicting on front of man in hat smoking pipe under floral spray, border surrounding base with scrolling and florals. Side marked with stamped "3/4 GALL", otherwise unmarked. Overall approximate height 10.25", diameter of foot 7". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
