Description
Continental, possibly Spanish, 18th century. An exceptional bronze maritime ship's bell decorated to the top with a two continuous horizontal ribs enclosing a band of rosettes over a wide band centered with five interlocking rosettes and two continuos horizontal ribs enclosing a band with rosettes and letters possibly 'SOLDERANCICODARTIAGA', the whole surmounted with shaped openwork handle. Approximate height 13.5", diameter of base 11". Provenance: Property from the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs & Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia. Purchased from Mac's Antique Shop, Wholesale & Retail, HWY 31-E & 61, 1 mile south Hodgenville, KY on August 24, 1976. Copy of receipt available upon request.
