Description
German, 17th century. A set of three stained glass windows in a single later casement and depicting three of the four New Testament Evangelists, three quarters of the Christian tetramorph, including Saint Luke as a winged ox at left, Saint John as an eagle at center, and Saint Mark as a winged lion at right, each of the figures clasping a white ribbon emblazoned with crosses and the Gospel author's name and also surrounded by cobalt and ruby glasses with some bearing tree branches and stylized leaves. Overall approximate height 34", width 33.25". Luke panel approximate height 29.75" x 10". John panel approximate height 22.5", width 9.75". Mark panel approximately 29.75", width 9.5".Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
