Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica-Panama, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A fine Tarrago vessel from the border region of Costa Rica and Panama (the Diquis Zone), a characteristically round-bottomed olla with a short vertical neck and most adorably, a pair of miniature, meticulously delineated armadillos perched upon opposite shoulders. A well-made, thin walled example of bisque ware pottery typical of this area. Size: 4.75" W x 3.5" H (12.1 cm x 8.9 cm)
