Item Details
Description
This very early dicer is quite possibly the only known surviving example!! For a penny you could shake the three dice in the interior dome up to three times. Rewards were posted on the front panel of the machine and there is also a manufacturers label that states "Automatic Manufacturing Company Columbus, Ohio". A serial number of 136 is present, which indicates that not many of these machines were produced. This machine was unique and unusual since the dice were contained in a dome within another dome, and rather than popping up/down which was the norm, this machine actually rattled/shook the dice from front to back. The mechanism is complex and interesting in that each time you depressed the lever, the penny advances a bit until the final 3rd shake that caused the penny to fall onto the cash box floor. Mechanism appears complete and partially working but needs some adjustments. A really neat and unusual machine that should not be overlooked by anyone who appreciates machines of this nature!!! Circa 1892, with key. Condition (Very Good). Size 7 ½" x 9 ½" x 12"
