2 parts in 1, first edition , engraved frontispiece, engraved headpiece with 2 portraits, 58 engraved plates, 2 double page, both loose and frayed, the others single-page on a folding sheet, 1 loose & frayed, the others more or less creased at fore-edge, some little torn, text little marked, plates somewhat browned, names on front endpapers, contemporary blind-stamped pigskin over wooden boards, marked, clasps missing, [Duveen p 534], folio, Braunschweig, F.W.Meyer, 1738. Wide-margined (350 x 205 mm) copy of the 'first edition of the most important mining book of the 18th century. Schluter was an official in British pay at Braunschweig and he dedicates his book to George II. He describes not only German mines, but also those of England, Scotland, Scandinavia and South-Eastern Europe'. (Duveen)
