Cased sixth plate daguerreotype of a young man, likely in his twenties. Sharp image quality, excellent focus probably shut in an upscale studio. Man photographed bears close resemblance to several members of the Lamar family, most closely to Mirabeau Buonaparte Lamar, who is too old to be the man pictured, and to Jefferson Mirabeau Lamar. Photograph is in a later brass casing and leather case. Attribtion on back suggests the man is Mirabeau Buonaparte Lamar, Second President of the Republic of Texas. Purchased about 20 years ago for a nominal sum from an Antebellum estate near Athens, Ga along with Lot 105A. Very good condition.
