Culture: Pre-Columbian Classification: Mayan Copan, Honduras Western Region Date: 600 AD - 850 AD Size: 7 3/4 inches tall and 5 7/8 inches diameter Description: A beautifully painted Maya polychrome vase showing two large standing chiefs, each holding a large staff emitting flames, each chief is surrounded by ball game balls and wears large decorative headdresses. Two large vertical registers of glyphs down each side. Very nicely stone polished to a glass like surface. Bright oranges and red paints with chocolate outlines. Large flared rim, vase in wonderful condition. Provenance: Stanley Harding Boggs ( Ohio , United States , 1910 - San Salvador , El Salvador , 1991 ) was an American archaeologist who worked and developed the archeology in El Salvador , and who is known as the Father of Archaeology Salvadoran.
