Description
Polychromed Terracotta Bust, 19th c., perhaps of Dante's Beatrice, H.- 11 in., W.- 10 1/4 in., D.- 4 1/4 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age. Losses are noted throughout the paint, especially to several large areas on the forehead, neck and proper right shoulder. Later paint application is observed throughout, particularly along the collar, sleeve openings, neck and nose. Several flea-size grey dots are observed near the nose. An approximate 1 cm square chip is seen to the terracotta in the back of the proper right shoulder. An intriguing piece.
