Description
A mid 19th century gold enamel and split pearl locket brooch. Of oval outline, the split pearl star and enamel panel, opening to reveal a miniature painting of a boy in period dress, to the guilloche enamel and hair glazed reverse. Length 6.3cms. Total weight 48.8gms. With case.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Small areas of repair, to include soft solder. Small worn areas the the top and bottom sections, some have been filled with soft solder. Split pearls with light nacre damage. Blue enamel in overall good condition with light scratches an nibbles. Inner frame of portrait worn to the top and bottom. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
