Description
A late 19th century 18ct gold enamel and gem-set butterfly brooch. The rose-cut diamond, ruby cabochon and split pearl butterfly, with black enamel limbs and outline, inset to the plain disc with stepped sides. French assay marks. Diameter 2.8cms. Weight 5.4gms.
Condition
Overall condition fair. Noticeable scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Size of diamond prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Split pearls show significant wear and discolouration. The rubies are a fairly well matched light medium slightly purplish red hue, with varying tone and saturation. Stones in good condition with minor abrasions. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
