Item Details

Description

This large beautifully fired blackware storage jar has a strong globular form with round shoulders tapering towards the foot. The short round neck is painted with a brown slip which is a good contrast with the black hare's fur glaze that covers almost the entire body. The clay body is a brown stoneware thrown on the potter's wheel, the wrungs are visble at the bottom part of the pot. The provenance is unknown but it was probably made in Fujian where the temmoku wares are well known, It is 19 inches tall and 19 inches in diameter. Age is over 100 years. Shipping via Fedex ground from Chicago estimate $50.
