EARLY, ENGLISH CARVED WOODEN GENTLEMAN, LADY AND CHILD DOLLS BY DAVID CHAPMAN AND PAUL ROBINSON OF "THE OLD PRETENDERS". Gentleman 13”, lady 10 ”, child 4 ”. Each is carved wooden one-piece head and torso, enamel inset glass eyes, painted dot-type lashes and brows, closed mouth, human hair wig, wooden arms and legs with dowel-jointing at hips, gentleman dowel-joints hips and knees, child unjointed; each costumed in accurately rendered period clothing of silk and wool with fine detail. Commentary: Museum quality reproduction dolls with wonderful facial carving and painting of features, beautifully costumed, excellent condition.
