Description
A Japanese folding fan in the original box. Meiji period. Possibly by Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891), incorporated with Haibara Naojiro (c.1847-1908) from the Haibara handmade paper workshop. Golden fan face with watercolor painting depicting flowers on one side and landscape scene on reverse. Bamboo and lacquer decorated bone fan bones. Signed in lacquer at the inner side of the fan bone: "made by Haibara". Fan: 8 3/8"l x 15"w. Box: 1 3/4"h x 10 1/4"l x 3 1/4"d.
