Exceptionally fine double-sided silk hand fan; one side depicting two men flying kites over the water, with a farmer tilling soil and farmhouse in the distance; the reverse side depicting potted bonsai trees in bloom, with insects and birds in flight. The handle and tassel bead are decorated with very fine enamel motifs of trees, birds, and insects and carved applique of coral and mother-of-pearl. Fan appears to be signed with character seal on one side (below and to the left of the kite-flying scene). Mounted in a double-sided presentation frame. Dimensions: H 17.5" x W 24.5" x D 2" Condition: Not examined out of frame. Fan appears to be in very good condition overall; a few small nicks and very faint spots of soiling to silk; a couple flea bites to mother-of-pearl mounts. Light patina and wear to frame.
