[Patent Examiner Files] Lithographed diagrams to accompany 18 patent examiner files related to firearms, mostly magazine guns. Patent dates 1848 to 1904. A few sets of diagrams lack a leaf, but most have all diagrams. Most are accompanied by text (usually on accompanying leaves, but sometimes the verso of the last diagram). In lower margin of some diagrams is a credit, usually “Norris Peters, Photo-Lithographer, Washington, D. C.” Classification labels at upper left. Rubber stamps at top, staple and pinholes (typically marginal), occasional pencil or ink notation, and markings by patent examiner and other staff. Most files’ diagrams are very good with minor surface dust, some with minor edge chipping, staples, some with tape, etc, marginal chip usually at corner. Inventors and patent dates provided below.
