The blacksmith has paused in his work and is proud to present the viewer his work, a delicate forged bouquet. In his left hand he holds the hammer with which he has just completed the piece. To his left are positioned the ambos, a forged wheel and a nail, all symbols of a characteristic blacksmith representation.

Condition:
The sculpture is in a good condition with minimal signs of age and wear. In places the patina is heavier rubbed. The height measures c. 89.3 cm.

Victor Heinrich Seifert (1870-1953)
The artist Victor Heinrich Seifert was born in Döbling in 1870. He is mostly known for his fountain figures and war memorials, which are cast mainly in bronze. Seifert studied at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Munich and the Academy of Art in Berlin. His teachers were Ernst Herter, Ludwig Manzel and Peter Breuer. Several study trips have taken him to Paris, Italy, Brussels and London, where he spent quite some time before he became a professor in Berlin. His works can be admired at many public spaces. (nlu)
