Description
Central India, possibly Pala Dynasty, ca 9th to 14th century CE. Wonderful gray schist stone panel dthe sacred river goddess Ganges holding pot of benediction, with her mount an alligator [not lizard] on the pedestal. In our lovely example she stands contraposto inside a niche, with a large lizard beneath her. A very fine and large example! Custom base: Size: 7.5" W x 18" H (19 cm x 45.7 cm)
