Description
Regency Mahogany Dining Table, early 19th century, the rounded rectangular top raised on two pedestals, each with a turned columnar standard to four splayed legs ending in brass caps on casters, with two matching leaves, h. 28-1/4", w. 51-1/2", l. 48", extended l. 88". Provenance: From the collection of Mr. and Mrs. James Britton, Houston, Texas, descended within the family.
Condition
In "as found" condition. The pedestals are strong and sturdy. There is a professionally pieced-in repair to the corner edge of one of the D-ends. The two tops at the ends of the table appear to have been professionally polished at one time. The two center boards had been in storage and the finish is dry and discolored. It may be possible to polish these to match the ends without stripping. All the tops are of "old growth" mahogany with good grain.
