New Orleans Auction March Sale: Day 1 of 2

New Orleans Auction Galleries is pleased to present our March 12-13, 2016 Estates Auction featuring property from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Britton, Houston, Texas, descended within the family; the Estate of Mark Chapman, Cat Spring, Texas; the Estate of Karolyn Kuntz Westervelt, New Orleans, Louisiana; and the Estate of Marjory Manget, New Orleans, Louisiana. The sale includes a selection of historically important Southern paintings by noted Louisiana artists such as William Henry Buck, Richard Clague and Walter Anderson; a small, but significant selection of New Orleans silver, all by Adolphe Himmel; and a three-piece American Renaissance Revival rosewood half-tester chamber suite attributed to the New Orleans warerooms of Prudent Mallard. The suite is one of four known Mallard bedroom suites retaining their original bill of sale. Also of note is a stunning painting by Gustave Loiseau that was formerly in the collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum of Art, a dazzling selection of jewelry and an impressive selection of modern and contemporary paintings, prints and sculpture.
