Antique Marble Plaque, Flemish Artist, Peter Paul Rubens

An antique carved Marble Plaque depicting a distinguished artist Peter Paul Rubens. Sir Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640), was a Flemish Baroque painter, and a proponent of an extravagant Baroque style. He is known for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects, in a style that emphasized movement, color, and sensuality. This portrait bas relief plaque is a hand carved Marble (stone). The Plaque is in a contemporary metal frame with glass and a easel stand. Overall dimensions are 8" x 6 1/2" and the marble itself is approximately 3" x 4 1/4".
