Description
A choice ribbed bowl, Eastern Mediterranean, late 1st Century BC - 1st Century AD, light blue glass, extremely well made with flattened base, 13 prominent vertical ribs and a pair of wheel cut lines three-quarters of the way down the interior. The interior and upper portion of the exterior of the vessel are wheel-polished, the rest of the body fire polished. Dia: 5 1/2 in (13.8 cm); WL 2: (5.1 cm). A gorgeous example of this Late Hellenistic - early Roman vessel! Cf. Hermitage, p. 257, no. 55; Monsieur D, p. 37, no. 84 for near identical examples. Ex collection of Dr. Michael A Telson.
