Hand-Engraved Die for Striking the Central Portion of the Great Seal of the State of Florida
Early Hand-Engraved Die to Produce the Central Design Portion of the Great Seal of the State of Florida, Choice Extremely Fine.
Rare and historic Hand-Engraved Die for the inner design for striking the Florida State Seal, the metal die measuring about 2.5” x 2.75” with the Engraved central design portion being about 1.5” in diameter. No date or place. The Great Seal of the State of Florida is used to represent the government of the State of Florida, and for various official purposes, such as to seal official documents and legislation. The design is also commonly seen on state government buildings, vehicles and other effects of the state government. It also appears on the state flag of Florida.

The Great Seal features a shoreline on which a Seminole woman is spreading hibiscus flowers. Two of Florida's state tree, the Sabal palm, are growing. In the background a steamboat sails before a sun breaking the horizon, with rays of sunlight extending into the sky. This early Hand-Engraved Die was produced for striking the inner design portion and it does not include the outer surrounding legend. The current, modern Florida State Seal is encircled with the words, "Great Seal of the State of Florida" and "In God we Trust".
