Description
CONTINENTAL PORCELAIN FAIRING-TYPE AMERICAN PATRIOTIC COVERED BOX, the shaped oval box with notched corners, the cover molded with a band of flower heads to the edges, below a spread-winged American eagle with fleche of arrows and laurel leaves in talons, head turned to left, most of his body painted in parcel gilding, and with traces of blue and red bands and stripes to his chest, the arrows, flower heads and molding all picked out in gilding. Unmarked, with numeral 846 to underside probably indicating a shape, mold or pattern number. Circa 1875-1880. 4 1/4" H.
