Description
Seabrooke, Elliott (British, 1886-1950) Oil Painting. “Still Life of Fruit and Flowers.” Oil on artist board. Signed lower right Elliott Seabrooke. In good condition, slight scuffing lower bottom right and small puncture into board in left center foreground. Painting measures 24" x 20". Frame measures 28" x 24”. Elliott Seabrooke was a British painter known for landscape, still life, and naval landscape.

From tate.org.uk: Landscape and still-life painter. Born 31 May 1886 at Upton Park, Essex. Studied at the Slade School 1906–11 and was influenced by the work of Czanne. Worked in Epping Forest and the Lake District; later travelled frequently to Holland, France and Italy. Served in the British Red Cross 1914–18 and as an Official War Artist on the Italian Front. First one-man exhibition at the Carfax Gallery 1912. In later years adopted a pointilliste technique derived from Seurat. Exhibited at the N.E.A.C. 1909–20, and at the London Group from 1919 (member 1920, President 1943–8, Vice-President 1949–50). Died in Nice 6 March 1950. Memorial exhibitions at the Leicester Galleries 1951 and Matthiesen Gallery 1955.
