Description
Lewis, Larry “Renzo” (American, 1953-) “The Stone of Relationship.” Bronze sculpture is signed on base Renzo 3/55. In good condition. Measures 38 ” x 30” x 17 ” deep.
From Winn Slavin Fine Art: "With my paintings, I saw what I dreamed and the pigment ran. For my sculptures, I foresee them better with my eyes closed as they evolve with clarity.” — Renzo
The painting and sculpture of Larry “Renzo” Lewis express the universal bond of humanity – the connection to each other contemporaneously and to those who came before and those who will come after. It explores both the qualities that unify humanity with itself and with the world around it and the qualities that distinguish humanity from that which surrounds it. His artworks are philosophical translations of his dreams, replete with symbolic layers of meaning which wait to be discovered. Stone is used as metaphor for the commonality of emotion and experiential existence throughout human history; ropes and other bindings convey the connections of culture and history that we share. Ravens and other blackbirds express the elusive instinctual guidance of our heritage and the shared human experience. Renzo further expresses interpretive meaning through an intuitive self-developed language of pictographic symbols drawn from many aspects and ages of humanity. Renzo’s art exhibits internationally and is in the permanent collections of Crocker Museum in Sacramento, de Young Museum in San Francisco, Evansville Museum of Art in Indiana, Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art in Las Vegas, and the Coral Springs Museum of Art in Florida. His work is the collection of the Kaiser Corporation and many other public and private collections. In addition to a life-time career as a fine artist, Renzo has worked as a professor, dean, and set designer for stage and film.
