DEVONSHIRE DUKE OF: (1720-1764) British Prime Minister 1756-57. An extremely rare L.S., Devonshire, one page, folio, n.p. (London), 22nd February 1759, to Mrs. Jane Heine, Housekeeper at Kensington Palace. The elegantly penned manuscript letter is a warrant in which Devonshire instructs the housekeeper to permit Mr. Philip Dawes, Painter, to 'take a Copy of the Picture of King William and to allow him a Room to paint in'.
