Description
A PAIR OF CONTINENTAL PARCEL GILT AND PAINTED CARVED WOOD PLAQUES, POSSIBLY ITALIAN, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each of scrolling bombe cartouche form suspending berried laurel swags, one centering Roman numeral "I", the other Roman numeral "III," on a green painted ground. Height: 7" Width: 10 1/2"
Condition
Good condition, with light surface buildup in crevices, normal gilding wear, small areas of flaking paint, and small chips paint on tips of leaves. These plaques are nicely carved and possibly from "Stations of the Cross," hence the Roman numerals. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
