A FINE KENYAN PAINTED AND CARVED WOOD DANCE SHIELD, KIKUYU PEOPLES, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, of elliptical form and centering a dividing band with a conforming opening flanked by an upper right shallow relief stepped panel and lower left radiating sun in blackish brown, on a white washed ground within raised reddish brown rounded trim, reversing to similarly painted continuous rows of triangular banding enclosing an oval sleeve.
