A CHINESE SANCAI GLAZED EQUESTRIAN MAIDEN MUSICIAN, POSSIBLY TANG DYNASTY (618-917), modeled as a flat cut mane and twist braided tail horse standing four square on a rectangular base, supporting a maiden musician with an unglazed double chignon hairstyle above a serene expression, wearing long robes and playing a circular drum (lacking sticks), glazed throughout in traditional green, golden amber and ivory colors. Height: 17 1/2" Width: 16" Depth: 7"
Condition
Good condition, normal surface buildup, minor marks and tiny scratches, fine crackling of glazed areas throughout, head possibly reaffixed.
