A GEORGE III BRASS MOUNTED MAHOGANY BRACKET CLOCK, BY LANGFORD OF SOUTHAMPTON, LATE 18TH CENTURY, the arched rectangular case with molded trim and surmounted by a brass bale handle, within sides of pierced fish scale panels and green silk dust linings, raised on a flat plinth and shaped bracket cast feet, beneath a conforming glazed door opening to a silvered dial with a reticulated blued steel "STRIKE / SILENT" hand, above black Roman hour chapters and Arabic minute numerals, centering delicate blued cut steel hands and a brass pointer hand, encircling black engraved, "LANGFORD / SOUTHAMPTON," flanked by twin key escapements, reversing to a similarly glazed door opening to a finely engraved brass backplate, portraying a flower filled basket within stylized acanthus branches and blossoming stems, numbered "3176," concealing an eight day two train fusee movement, beneath a domed white metal bell with a block form strike, and suspending a circular pendulum, including winding key and door key. Condition
Good condition, a few old repairs to mahogany veneer, age cracks, well maintained.
