Franklin Delano Roosevelt (as Asst. Sec. of the Navy). Typed Letter Signed with Franklin D. Roosevelt’s initials. On Navy Department water-marked stationery, dated April 2, 1917 (four days before the US declared war on Germany) to John D. Hall, Pensacola Fla., in three numbered paragraphs specifying Mr. Hall’s transfer to Washington, DC. Stamped signature of Franklin D Roosevelt but initialed "FDR" by hand. Various stamps and signatures in blue and red at bottom and on reverse. Two creases from horizontal folds, age-toning. ********** Early in his career, Franklin Roosevelt served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy under Woodrow Wilson before eventually becoming the President in 1933.
