Chinese, Late 19th century.. Pair of carved and lacqured hardwood (likely elm) yoke back armchairs with undulating vertical plank back splat, arms with out scrolled ends, rectangular seats above shaped apron, legs joined by simple box stretcher. Remnants of original weathered lacquered finish throughout. Overall approximate height 49", width (across arms) 24.5", depth 22.25", seat to floor 21.75".
