Description
Paul Jacoulet (French, 1902-1960), "Le Tabouret de Porcelaine Mandochoukuo "-1936, color woodblock print on paper, pencil signed lower right above red seal mark with lantern, titled lower right margin, calligraphic stamp at right margin. Figural work on paper depicting sitting woman in traditional robe decorated with stylized pink and black cloud scrolls holding wisteria floribunda (commonly known as Japanese wisteria), figure sitting on a blue and white porcelain garden seat or stool with serpentine scaled dragon. Framed approximately 21.25" x 17.25". Sight sheet size approximately 16.5" x 13".
Condition
Large foxing marks across upper left and right quadrants. Some additional foxing visible in lower left quadrant. Noticeable, clean mat burn. Work has been cut down, with jagged hand cut edge at top. Margins with residual adhesive and remnants of previously applied matting. Light toning to sheet. Colors rich and vibrant with light signs of fading. No other apparent holes, rips, tears or damage.
