Description
DESCRIPTION: 19th century buffalo skinning set in shadow box. Three knives, knife block trimmed with fur and adjustable waist belt. Includes copy of gold stock certificate and photograph of Charles E. Parker. PROVENANCE: Per tag, property of Buffalo Hunter, Charles E. Parker, from (Vincennes) Vermont. It was acquired by Dr. Colar of Vermont, later purchased from his estate by collector Jack Lauer of Pennsylvania, who sold it to Jim Henson of Philadelphia. Charles Parker's Sharps Model 1874 rifle and other hunting accessories, including a buffalo covered canteen and tool sets, were sold by Rock island Auctions, lot 3113, in their Premiere Collector's Firearms Auction (May 20, 21 and 22, 2011). MEASUREMENTS: Box 32" x 26" x 6-1/4". CONDITION: Not examined out of box. Wear to each piece consistent with use and age.
