Karl Schmidt-Rottluff (1884-1976) German Expressionism. Rare woodcut in colors, printed in black and shades of blue. Titled Dünen und Mole (translated Dunes and Pier) created 1917. Signed in black crayon S. Rottluff lower right. Pencil signed by the printer gedr. F. Voigt ( Fritz Voigt; the artist's printer ) lower left. The irregular composition measures 11-7/16" x 13-5/16". Sheet measurement 16.5" x 20.25". Matted measurement 20" x 21".
NOTE: Schmidt-Rottluff was a German expressionist painter and printmaker, one of the four founder-members of the artist group Die Brucke.
CONDITION NOTE: wrinkling of paper at margins. Additional condition note: wrinkling of paper at margins, there are also tears to the top and bottom of the margins, showing in the additional photos. Part of the margins had been folded under, in order to fit the matting. The actual sheet size is corrected to be 17.75" high, 22.75" wide.
