Original photograph of the actress Colleen Dewhurst, taken by Martha Swope. Martha Swope, a former dancer with a Brownie camera who would go on to become a world renowned photographer of dance and theater in New York. Colleen Dewhurst and George C. Scott were called actors_____________ actors. The couple met in 1958 when both appeared off-Broadway in Children of Darkness. They married in 1960 and divorced in 1965. They married again in 1967 and divorced again in 1972. Dewhurst often played sensual, earth mother types on stage. Scott flourished in grizzly, hotheaded characters. For nearly half a century, the two starred in theater, motion pictures and television. Their lives on-and-off screen is the stuff of which Hollywood folklore is spun.
