The Italian painter Giacomo Varese created this painting of the Lake Geneva in 1860/1870.

A view from a hillside at the shiny blue lake, a small town located on the shore and over grassed mountains to the snow-capped peaks. Varese, a student of M. Canzio, worked in Genoa and became a member of the local Accademia Ligustica in 1838.

The picture is signed on the lower right with ‘G. Varese‘ and in a good condition with only slight signs of age. On the left level of the clouds there are two small, white scratches. The overall dimensions with frame are 93 x 123 cm. The painted frame also shows slight signs of wear, as some chips are visible. (vwe)
