Description: Chinese, Sang Dynasty "Mingqi" or "spirit object" depicting a miniature boar, for funerary use to be buried with an individual upon death. Dark brown, monochrome glaze over terracotta boar with details including cropped ears, and long tail.
History: Mingqi sometimes referred to as "spirit objects" or "vessels for ghosts", are Chinese burial goods. They included daily utensils, musical instruments, weapons, armor, and intimate objects such as the deceased's cap and bamboo mat.
