Description: English Ironstone covered tureen and underplate made by the firm of Hicks, Meigh & Johnson, 1820 – 1835. The pieces are presented in their popular Japan pattern #66 in green tones, which is more rare than the usual iron red.
History: Hicks, Meigh & Johnson traces its origins to 1807, when Job Meigh set up a partnership with Richard Hicks in Hanley, Staffordshire. Johnson joined the pottery as a traveling representative in 1822, and the company remained in business until 1835.
