Condition
Wax-lined; per inscription on back, work was lined and inpainted by Trovajoli Conservertors, Granbay, Alabama, October 1960; there appears to overall surface grime as well as a couple surface scratches, most notably to the right of figure's head and an approx. 6 inch scratch starting near left edge and extending through figure's chest; minor craquelure throughout as well as dimpling in canvas due to wax lining; under UV exam, there appears to be several spots of inpainting to address craquelure and loss; possible strengthening to figure's jaw and cheek lines as well as shadow beneath nose; however, a thick and discolored varnish layer makes this painting difficult to read.
