Description
India, 18th century CE. This is a pair of thick brass rings each with an animal decoration. The larger of the two has a large but essentially two-dimensional top down view of a tortoise. The other is a three dimensional image showing a rearing cobra, a lamp, and a seated cow. The cobra ring is a size 5.5 and the tortoise is a 6.5. Size of largest: 2.25" L x 1" W (5.7 cm x 2.5 cm).
Provenance: Estate of Paul and Louise Bernheimer, Cambridge, MA and Laguna Woods, CA - acquired before 1980
