DESCRIPTION: Wharton Harris Esherick (Pennsylvania, 1887 - 1970) framed and matted circa 1923 wooodblock on rice paper entitled "Song of the Broad Axe '- the hammersmen'". Numbered 21/40. Signed upon the lower right in pencil "Wharton Harris Esherick". Chop mark on lower left "WHE". From Walt Whitman's Song of the Broad Axe. MEASUREMENTS: 10-1/2" x 9-3/4". Overall 20-1/2" x 14". CONDITION: Foxing and discoloration throughout. Wear to paint on frame.
