Description
O. Conrad Schniering (Wyoming, 1916 - 1986) 16" x 12" oil on masonite painting of Western scene "Two Horses Fenced In." Signed "O. Conrad Schwiering" lower right. Remnants of an exhibition label on verso. Conrad Schwiering was an accomplished Western landscape artist. Awarded the Trustees Gold Medal by the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum after his one man exhibition of 38 of his paintings in 1981. This show was previewed in a book length publication titled, "Painting on the Square." He was a member of the National Academy of Western Art. He studied under Robert A. Grahame and Raphael Ullywhite of Denver, and a the Arts Students League with Charles S. Chapman. After WWII, he settled in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he sold more than 1,000 paintings.
