Set of 8 19th/Early 20th Century Queen Anne Chippendale Style Marquetry Inlaid Walnut Dining Chairs Including 2 Carvers (Open Arm) and 6 Side Chairs. High Backs Have Shaped Stiles Serpentine Top Rail w/ Chinese Chippendale. Antique dining room table and eight chairs, originally purchased by my
grandparents, in the 1930s, from the Abram Lisner estate, Washington DC. I
have a certified appraisal, done in 2005 by Stephanie Kenyon, for my
parents, Linda and Tevy Schlafman. Below are descriptions and pictures of
the pieces. At the time, the appraisal also included a pair of mid-19th
century English mahogany display cabinets, which I believe your company sold
for them in the last year or so.
EARLY-TO-MID 20th CENTURY GEORGE III/IV STYLE MAHOGANY DOUBLE PEDESTAL
BANQUET TABLE. Regular top with rounded corners and contrasting cross-banded
border; turned tapering columnar bases each supported by three saber legs;
brass lion paw castors; two extra leaves.
h: 30 1/2”; w: 48”. L: fully extended 106”.
SET OF EIGHT LATE 19TH - EARLY 20TH CENTURY QUEEN ANNE/CHIPPENDALE STYLE
MARQUETRY INLAID WALNUT DINING CHAIRS. Including two carvers (open arm) and
six side chairs. High backs have shaped stiles, serpentine top rail with
Chinese Chippendale influenced carved leaves; pierced, shaped variform splat
with inlay of trailing leafy vine with berries; flaring seat frame with
serpentine front outline having carved bowknot-and-leafage decoration; line
inlay throughout; slip seats newly upholstered in black horsehair; modified
cabriole legs end in hoofed talon claw feet. H: 47”; W: 24”.
