Description
An extraordinary piece of Japanese Kutani porcelain from the Meiji period, late 19th century. The vase is made in a bulbous form and stands an impressive 24-1/2 inches tall and measures about 16 inches across the body. The exterior is masterfully painted with a continuous scene of two large birds sitting on a flowering tree branch. Swallows in flight overhead and flowering tree branches throughout. The vase is signed on the bottom. This is a heavy piece, weighing 47 lbs.
Condition
Overall the condition of the vase is very good with no chips, cracks, or restorations however, the lid has been repaired and shows sign of a crack.
