Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Nazca/Huari/Wari transitional, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A wonderful polychrome handbuilt pottery bowl in the tradition of fine Andean ceramics. The decorative program is abstract with a series of red and black repeated squiggles filling a register underscored by an orange band just below the rim. Size: 6-3/4" in diameter (17.1 cm) x 3-1/4"H (8.3 cm).
Provenance: Ex-private Crested Butte, CO collection, acquired in 1987.
