Meyer Vaisman (Venezuelan, b. 1960)
Neo-Geo artist Meyer Vaisman emerged on New York’s downtown art scene in 1980 with his works that experimented with commercial and photomechanical reproduction. His multimedia work explores ideas of authorship and creation. Vaisman co-founded the East Village gallery, International With Monument, which became known as the center of the Neo-Geo movement, exhibiting emerging artists including Richard Prince, Laurie Simmons and Sarah Charlesworth. Born in Caracas, Venezuala, Vaisman studied at Parsons School of Design. His work can be found in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Israel Museum, the Walter Art Center in Minneapolis, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, among numerous others.
